I told you we'd get through Numbers . . .

Here are some of my favorite quotes--what are yours?

  1. God to Moses: "Is the Lord's arm too short?" (this was after Moses wails about not being able to provide meat)
  2. God to Aaron "I am your share and your inheritance." (instead of getting any land)
  3. Moses to God: (after asking that God appoint someone to take his place) "so the Lord's people will not be like sheep without a shepherd"

Next week--we are on to Deuteronomy, which is Moses' last speech.

Designed for travel

I loved the way the the tabernacle was designed to be packed up and carried--each component having it's own carrying case. And the very detailed way that God provided for the care of the tabernacle by assignments to all of the Levites. Makes me wish that in the church we could be so caring for our property.

Numbers--what an exciting title-- . . .

Not really--my comentary says that one of the ancient titles was "in the wilderness". There are two census' (numberings) in this book. The first one at Mt. Sinai in preparation for the wilderness, and the other 40 years later near the Jordan in preparation for entering the promised land. Well here we go--two weeks of wandering in the wilderness--remember the Children of Israel were there for 40 YEARS.
