What do you like the most about this book?
other than the lists of territorial boundaries (yes I just skim read those) what do you like least?

  1. I linked over from the current discussion on L.L. Barkat's site. I wanted to respond to your suggestion for a book on the OT ... I teach an OT Survey course for a junior college and use a book called, "He Loves Forever" by Thomas Olbricht (College Press). It is a very simple, basic theological overview of the OT. The author deals with some of the thorny issues of war and killing, though perhaps not in the detail we might like. There are 13 chapters, so it is designed for a quarter Bible class for a church.

Many of my junior college students have no Bible background, so this little book (180 pp) is great to acquaint them with the great themes of the Bible at a basic level.

Even if in your study you are well beyond the level of this book in your wrestling with the issues of the OT (and I would guess from your comments that you are), you will still appreciate this book for the way it puts the material and issues in a user-friendly form for you to teach.
